Vocal Essence and Pathways to Cross-Cultural Melodies -
Primary benefits of this
practice: A period of
uninterrupted repetition of simple sacred syllables allows for entry into a
serene, meditative state of mind conducive to heightened spiritual awareness.
Weekly vocal
practice at HeArt’s Delight Expressive Arts studio, starts Thurs., Sept. 9, 6:30-8:30 pm, to focus on breath, tone, scales,
ragas, mantra, chant - first 15 mins. check in, one hour will be continuous,
non-interrupted (no conversation back and forth), and then final 45 mins. will
be cross-cultural melodies.

Once monthly format (Saturday, 10 am-4 pm, September 25 and October 23) will allow
for joyous expressive movement, improvisational small groups, musical theory
development, and more cross-cultural vocalizing, and possibly some instrumental
development. A reference handout
of scales (major, minor, pentatonic, explanation of modes, and introduction to
North Indian ragas) will be available to registered participants, and an
explanation/instruction will be provided on a progressive gradual basis.

- The Healing Voice: Ritual and Resonance, with Jill Purce
Three-day Intensive to be held atThe Peace Abbey in Sherborn, Massachusetts
Saturday, Sunday and Monday October 9-11, 201010:00 a.m-6:00 p.m.
In
these workshops, we will explore the power of the voice to reconnect us
as resonant beings with the resonant world, and to heal and transform
ourselves and others. By experimenting with the psycho-physical effects
of breathing, the ancient shamanic technique of Mongolian overtone
chanting, sacred chants, mantric and sonic meditations, participants
attune together moving into deep meditative states. Through sound,
different parts of the body-mind cleanse and tune the chakras while
releasing untapped sources of energy. With ritual, participants will
open their hearts and find joy, liberation and ecstasy in the discovery
of an unlimited source of power through the encounter of their own
voice in community.

His recordings have been hailed as "The ultimate soundtrack to one's
most private ritual dream" by New Age Retailer magazine. Originally a
keyboardist, for the past 25 years he has also been a hand
drummer and world music multi-instrumentalist and has studied with
master musicians of Africa, India, America and Indonesia. He has
performed and collaborated with many highly regarded musicians, dancers
and writers.
His Sound Healing studies include
a ten year close personal association with Divine Sound Master Saruah
Benson, intensive training with Tom Kenyon and additional studies with
Russill Paul, Dabadi Thaayrohyadi, Fiona Whitmore, the work of Chloe
Goodchild, Jonathan Goldman, Don Campbell and many others. He has a sound practice, and teaches as well.
