The Power of the First Sound: The Rhythmic
Path
of Self-Transformation
Join us for an evening of rhythmic
meditations and breathing
practices, along with chanting and humming sacred sounds to the rhythms
of the
frame drum -- an ancient technique for
directly synchronizing the mind/body, creating conditions for
psychological,
physical, and spiritual healing. The first sound we hear is the
pulse of our mother's
blood and drumming is the musical expression of this primal
truth. The frame drum is the oldest known drum
traditionally played by priestesses in transformative religious rites
throughout the ancient Mediterranean world. Layne will not only
perform, but guide us
through a multi-media presentation with mantra, breath exercises, and
more.
Layne Redmond is an
accomplished
composer, percussionist, recording artist, author and clinician who has
performed at music festivals worldwide, teaches internationally.
Here work includes the highly acclaimed When The
Drummers Were Women, Invoking
the Muse, and award winning Trance Union. She
has created a series of therapeutic and healing rhythmic entrainment
techniques,
some of which she brings tonight!
Zacciah Blackburn will be offering closing ceremonies at our Conference with four Grandfather Ceremonial Drums in attendance:
